“Let’s spread kindness throughout Greater Victoria! Watch for Kindness Cards at retailers and other locations around the community!” ….. yes, it’s Random Act of Kindness Day.
This is a great opportunity for me to use virtue signalling, for extra social media marketing, and a predictable (nothing random here) act of kindness.
Edwards Technical Writing is based at the Dock co-working space. This is a vibrant and collaborative social impact hub, and a great place to do anything work related (acts of kindness included).
Once I have committed my act of kindness on Friday, I plan to take a photo, email it to the Victoria Foundation, and share it on social media using the hashtag #RAKdayYYJ . This will provide me with the chance to win one of two $500 prizes for a registered charity of my choice…. If I win a prize – I am choosing the Victoria Literacy Connection!! (VLC). VLC is a local non-profit, focused on literacy; and Alison Edwards is a member of their Fundraising and Communications Committee. They do great work to improve literacy in Victoria. Edwards Technical Writing is providing a large bucket of Halloween candy for co-workers at the Dock, accompanied by a donation jar. This collection will be donated to the VLC.
